Ivonne Cruz tells stories through her artwork and photography, drawing inspiration from documentary photographers such as Sebastião Salgado, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, and Robert Frank. As a storyteller, she recognizes the deep responsibility this role carries. As Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie reminds us, there are always multiple stories within cultures, lives, interactions, experiences, and places; when only a single story is told, misunderstanding can occur.

Her approach is rooted in capturing the human condition with empathy, humility, and deep respect. She is deeply interested in the dialogue and relationships that emerge between herself, the subject, and the audience. This exchange is organic, fluid, and constantly evolving, shaped by trust, presence, and lived experience.
