Where One Place Ends
and Another Begins

Demi Sedrakyan is fascinated by what humans hold dear and the physical manifestations we choose to embody our memories. As we move through the world and leave what is familiar behind, shrines, statues, and photographs become a sort of sacred archive of what once was. Through exploring such motifs, Sedrakyan has developed her own kind of sacred iconography.

Each work is an interaction between symbols, shapes, materials, and the histories she carries with her. Forms migrate between objects and images, between recognizable references and invented structures. They overlap, repeat, interrupt, and support one another. Across the exhibition, these relationships create a shifting visual language, one that is simultaneously researched and intuitive, inherited and constructed.

For Where One Place Ends and Another Begins, Sedrakyan’s visual lexicon of motifs expands from the works to the exhibition installation, physically occupying not only the gallery walls but the airspace and floor of Art City’s MIAR Gallery. Unexpected, Where One Place Ends and Another Begins invites viewers through the looking glass to step into a moment of the sacred.

Where One Place Ends and Another Begins will open with a public reception at Art City on Friday, November 13, 2026 at 5-9pm.
