My newest painting series is a figurative window into the literal and abstract moments in young women's lives. I paint women because I only know my internal experiences through the lens of being a young woman and how that bleeds into my life. I aim to present both the lows of womanhood while simultaneously sharing the beauty women possess internally and externally. Using oil paint to create my work, I intentionally paint delicately to speak for the fragility and humanity in my subject matter. I paint these works on a mid scale canvas as if one is looking through a window into a home, and the parts of life people often don't share. Curled up alone on one's bed, picking up a crying and heartbroken friend, hopeful laughter at the dinner table, loss, grief, all the things we all experience that we see as negative, mundane, or ugly and I hope to shine a light on the beauty through it all. Life is a series of mostly boring moments and it's best to find a way to fall in love with that.
