From the artist:
“I paint because it’s the one place where I can get lost and still feel at home. The act of painting itself keeps me coming back, it’s fun, it’s freeing, and sometimes the only thing that quiets my mind. I never start with a clear idea; most of the time, I just follow a feeling, my creative compass. It's like something guides me, a voice or a muse and once I’m in that flow, the work starts to reveal itself.
I move between control and looseness, with my medium, letting the surface tell me what it needs. The worlds I build often sit somewhere between reality and imagination: bright, playful, a little strange, chaotic. There’s joy and curiosity there, but also a kind of unease, or tension that makes you wonder.
I don’t paint to explain things in some instances but I paint to see what might appear if I just keep going. My hope is that others can feel that same spark that they can step into the work for a moment and find something of themselves there too.”
