“Into the wind” by Victoria Park

Victoria Park, born SeungRi Park in Seoul, Korea, was raised in a family where art was a living presence. Her father, Park Kiloung, was an influential abstract painter during the 1960s and 1970s, and her mother, both an artist and educator, instilled in her the discipline and freedom of creative expression from an early age.

Surrounded by canvases, pigment, and conversation about form and feeling, Victoria developed a deep sensitivity to color as emotional language. She later moved to the United States to study Fine Arts at the University of Tennessee, where she refined her technical foundation and artistic voice. After graduation, she stepped away from painting for over a decade — a quiet interlude that would later inform the depth and introspection of her work. When she returned to the canvas twelve years later, it was with renewed urgency and clarity. Her paintings became explorations of contrast: darkness and illumination, tension and harmony, chaos and grace.

Working primarily in expressive abstraction, Victoria layers bold, saturated hues against moody undertones, allowing light to emerge from shadow. Her name, SeungRi — meaning “hope” — reflects the ethos of her practice: a pursuit of light through color and joy through creation. Today, her work stands as both personal meditation and universal invitation — encouraging viewers to rediscover the simple, radical act of doing what makes them happy.
