Through translucence, layered color, and embedded texture, I reconstruct what has been overlooked—allowing fractured elements to interact with light in unexpected ways. A remnant, a trace of industry becomes a sculptural presence. For nearly a decade, I have gathered broken glass, ceramics, metal, plastics, and shoreline debris from the Great Lakes, as well as the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, during beach cleanups. Encased in resin, these materials shift into a new spatial and visual context: reposed, refracted, and reimagined. Waveflowers is both practice and principle: use what is found. My work reshapes fragments marked by industry, nature, and human behavior into cohesive three-dimensional compositions. What was once abandoned becomes illuminated. What was cast aside is transformed into art with purpose. Through this act of reclamation, I explore environmental and personal healing.
