Ruthy Siegel is a Mexican-born artist based in Edwardsville, Illinois. She earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2003, specializing in oil painting. After graduation, she worked as a commissioned artist and in the luxury jewelry industry before becoming a stay-at-home mother in 2010. The COVID-19 pandemic motivated Ruthy to return to the easel after a nearly 20-year hiatus. In 2022, she received the People’s Choice Award in the Edwardsville Arts Center’s Cabin Fever exhibition. Her debut solo exhibition followed at the Edwardsville Arts Center in September 2025. Later that year, she received the Curator’s Choice Award at Artisans in the Loop and an Award of Excellence at Soulard Art Gallery, both in St. Louis. Her work has since appeared in ARTFUSION’s Show of Love, DUALITY at Jackson Junge Gallery in Chicago, and The Color of Music at Elysian Gallery in Alton, Illinois, where she received Best in Show. Working primarily in colorful, photorealistic oils on wood panels, Ruthy explores childhood through a maternal lens, examining the duality between the euphoria of motherhood and the responsibilities of caregiving.
