The idea for this painting came to me while listening to Hozier's "Like Real People Do". In the song he sings "we should just kiss like real people do". Listening to this lyric, an idea formed in my mind. As I painted, it kind of transformed into this hopelessly romantic moment between two lovers . The painting depicts a human woman sharing an intimate moment with her Dryad lover. They know this love won't last, yet they share a tender kiss and pretend that they are real people with a real shot at love.
