Based in San Jose, California, Danny Hanson creates artwork featuring California wildlife, Women of Color, bright shapes and colors, and fantastical creatures. They come from a large family, and love sharing their work with their family. They are motivated to work because their work helps them connect to themself, and find the joy of living. When Danny is creating, they tend to get lost in thinking about life, identity, and purpose. Especially when making geometric patterns, they enter a meditative and reflective state. Danny's work is unique because it combines bright colors, living forms, and abstraction. They are inspired by feminism, their queer identity, their racial identity, children's media, forms from nature, the sea, and simple shapes. They especially love sea creatures and nature. They identify as Chicanx, and have a deep love for the Chicano art movement, Aztec art, such as codices, reliefs, and textile, and Mexican murals.
