I create art that depicts my face and body, making portraits that are deeply personal but reflect the communities to which I belong and move within. As an artist and art therapist, I seek to unpack what is rejected and shunned, knowing that only through honest exploration can we tend to individual and collective wounds as well as celebrate our strengths. I am a practicing art therapist trained at the School of the Art Institute, where I developed my craft to complicate perceptions of what “self” is and speak to how spaces of intersection contain creative potential.
