Affixed and Unfixed

Anna Lipscomb’s Affixed and Unfixed explores the body as a mutable site of identity, ambiguity, and resistance. Through modular and hybrid anatomies, Lipscomb reconfigures familiar markers- faces, limbs, breasts, genitals- to destabilize fixed readings of gender, sexuality, and species. Lipscomb’s figures unsettle the idea of the human as a stable category and instead embrace transformation, multiplicity, and fluidity.

Anna Lipscomb is a multimedia sculptor originally from Oklahoma and now based in Chicago, Illinois. She received her BFA in Fine Arts, specializing in Contemporary Sculpture from the University of Oklahoma and her MFA from Columbia College Chicago.
