My photographic work focuses on a deep interest in capturing the beautiful duality of the uncanny and the comforting. Currently, I aim to document life on the street, whether it be the bustling corner of State & Michigan or a quiet avenue in the suburbs. Most of my work is done on day trips and long, wandering shooting sessions. For my mediums, I use film to emphasize comfort and nostalgia, while digital can be uncanny and cold. Conceptually, I’m greatly inspired by the photography of Paul D’amato, Joel Sternfeld, and Alec Soth. My photography employs themes of duality. Whether it be a small cottage in front of a huge nuclear cooling tower or an Amish family in the middle of Chicago, the way subjects interact, stand out or blend in with their environment is what pushes me everyday I go out and shoot.
