Sammi is a queer Chicago based artist, originally from Massachusetts. Her work uses surrealism in color and environment while maintaining realism in anatomy and proportions to create a dreamlike image, playing with the line of reality and fantasy. She often uses close up portions of faces to make the viewer feel an intimate closeness with the subject matter. There are recurring patterns in the work to symbolize emotion located on the portrait. The art explores themes of expressionism, love and intimacy. Her aim is to create a unique reality that borrows from our subconscious. Sammi uses oil paint and collage with mixed media.
